The new wood-fired sauna by the sea at Strandstuvikens Havsbad & Camping near Nyköping

Strandstuvikens Havsbad & Camping is a seaside campsite near Nyköping in Södermanland, Sweden. Right at the water's edge sits its wood-fired sauna – room for up to eight people, a view over the bay and a jetty for a cold dip in the sea between rounds. The sauna is open all year, and guests book it online through Rentalbuddy, straight from the campsite's website.

A new sauna at the water's edge

In 2025 the old sauna was replaced with a new one. The new building is slightly larger and has better lighting. The sauna room itself is about the same size as before, while the relaxation and changing room is bigger, and there is now a small veranda with a bench outside – a good spot to cool down and look out over the sea.

The sauna is heated with wood, and after a round on the benches guests can take a dip in the sea from the jetty – in summer, and for the brave, in winter too.

Booked online, open all year

A sauna that is open all year needs a booking flow that works without someone handing out keys at the reception. At Strandstuviken, guests click the BOOK button on the sauna page, choose a time and pay online. Everything they need for their visit then arrives by email.

How self-service sauna booking works at Strandstuviken

  1. Book online – the guest opens the sauna page on strandstuviken.se, clicks BOOK and picks a time.

  2. Pay directly – payment is made in the booking flow, so the booking is confirmed straight away.

  3. Get codes and instructions – the confirmation includes where to fetch water, the codes for the sauna and the woodshed, and how to leave the sauna when the session is over.

  4. Enjoy the sauna – light the stove, enjoy the heat and the sea, then close the draught hatch, lock the doors and leave the sauna as you would like to find it.

For the campsite, every booking, payment and access code is handled in the Rentalbuddy admin panel – no keys to hand over and no manual booking list to keep track of.

Self-service with a personal touch

Self-service doesn't mean guests are left on their own. Between 1 April and 31 August, guests can phone the campsite and ask the staff to heat the sauna for them before they arrive. And if anything comes up during a visit, the reception is there to help.

It is a good example of how self-service booking and a staffed campsite work side by side: the booking, payment and access run automatically, while the staff can focus on the guests.

Part of the campsite's own website

The booking button sits directly on the sauna page of strandstuviken.se. Guests never leave the campsite's website to find out when the sauna is free – they see the availability, book and pay in one go.
